The South African acting industry is in mourning as actor and TV executive producer McMillan Themba Masoka tragically dies in a car accident.

His family announced the devastating loss on social media on Wednesday, April 10. The 42-year-old actor, also the owner and founder of Basadi Cleaners, met his untimely end on Sunday, April 7, following a collision on the N3 in Van Reenen.

In their heart-wrenching statement, the family conveyed the profound sorrow stemming from McMillan’s sudden departure:

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the sudden and tragic passing of our beloved Son and Brother, McMillan Themba Masoka. He unfortunately met his sunset in a tragic car accident on Sunday, April 7 2024, along the N3 in Van Reenen. He will be fondly remembered as a dedicated enabler in business, someone who consistently extended himself to ensure the well-being of others, as well as a fond lover of his children.”

The family extended gratitude for the outpouring of support and condolences they are still receiving:

McMillan’s brother Bonga Masoka spoke more about him in a heartrending message online:

“He was a brother to the daughter of a sex worker; a hopeless child in Diepsloot; a high school dropout with no prospects of a better future; an offender and an addict; a childhood friend; the misfits and the cancelled; a street hustler and a professional; a struggling, an aspiring and a successful artist; a start-up, emerging and a multi-millionaire entrepreneur; a JSE listed company director; and yet, still find time to be my brother.”
