South African Footballer Portia Modise Hijacked At Gunpoint

Former Banyana Banyana football star Portia Modise is lucky to be alive after being hijacked at gunpoint.

Modise was hijacked by five young men outside her house as she was leaving. She lost her car during the terrifying hijacking incident.

Hijacking Incident in Soweto: Portia Modise Targeted

Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed the hijacking incident to the Daily Sun.

According to the police, Portia Modise was hijacked in White City, Soweto, on the evening of Saturday, 6 July 2024.

Modise was driving out of her yard when she noticed five males in front of her gate. She asked them to move so she could pass but was then threatened at gunpoint and hijacked.

Two of the suspects drove away in her VW Golf 5, while the other three escaped in a silver VW Polo. Modise was also robbed of her cellphone, but no shots were fired.

The police have since launched an investigation into the hijacking as they search for the suspects and the stolen car.

Portia Modise Reaches Out on Social Media After Hijacking

Meanwhile, Portia Modise took to her social media accounts to open up about her harrowing hijacking ordeal. She revealed that she was not okay and pleaded with her fans and followers to help her recover her car.

I’m not okay, guys. I need your help to get my car back,” she said.

She revealed that the men who took her car pointed firearms at her.

Please, guys, I didn’t sleep at all. My car was taken by young guys who pointed firearms at me,” she added.
