South African gospel musician Kenny Makweng has died barely weeks after suffering a debilitating stroke.

Kenny suffered a stroke in the latter part of December 2023 year and was admitted to the intensive care unit. He also experienced complications in his brain.

 

Label Confirms That Kenny Makweng Has Died

His record label, KennyMak Productions, confirmed the sad news in a statement released on social media:

“It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved gospel icon Dr Kenny Makweng, who passed on after a short illness.”

The record labels added that they would share details of the funeral as time progresses:

“Details of the memorial service as well as the funeral arrangements will be announced by KennyMak Productions as per family instructions in due course. The family humbly requests the public and the media to respect their privacy to deal with this difficult situation.

“We request that you keep his family, associates and friends in [your] prayers. KennyMak Production Team send their deepest and heartfelt condolences to his family, fans, friends and fellow artists.”

Two weeks ago, sources close to Kenny Makweng told the media that his situation was so dire that doctors told his family to expect anything. He was reportedly not responding to any treatment. His condition deteriorated so much that only his family was allowed to visit him in the hospital after his admittance.

Kenny Makweng’s fans expressed heartbreak and offered condolences following his death on 15 January 2024.
