Singer and songwriter Nomfundo Moh Ngcobo, known for her achievements like purchasing her first house and car at just 23 and earning a degree in social work, is set to open a restaurant. The multi-talented individual is now venturing into the culinary world with her upcoming restaurant venture, La Mar, situated in Spruitview, Johannesburg.
A New Business Endeavor
Nomfundo, aged 24, revealed her plans shortly after dropping her latest single, “uMusa,” featuring Msaki and Cassper Nyovest. Expressing her enthusiasm for the new venture, she emphasized her commitment to creating job opportunities through her restaurant. “Today, we take a step towards providing employment for our community,” she stated. “The grand opening of La Mar Restaurant in Spruitview is on the horizon. All glory to God.”
Her foray into the restaurant industry aligns her with a league of celebrities turned restaurateurs, including DJ Oskido, J Something, Siba Mtongana, DJ Shimza, Benny Maverick, Nicky van der Walt, and Maps Maponyane, who has since transitioned away from his Buns Out establishments.

Nomfundo Moh’s rising career and milestones
Having accomplished significant milestones before reaching 25, Nomfundo credits her family for instilling discipline in her life. “I am fortunate to have unwavering support from my family in every endeavour,” she shared with ZiMoja. “Completing my studies was particularly challenging as my career began to take off. Releasing tracks like ‘Phakade Lam’ coincided with the practical requirements of my social work program.”
On her graduation day, the singer had one of her hit songs, ‘Soft Life’, played. Her management team also presented her with a placade as her song had reached gold status. With a couple of hit songs under her belt at just 24, Nomfundo Moh is showing a bright future in the music industry.
