In a shocking turn of events, legendary South African music producer Sello “Chicco” Twala has had his sons, Sello and Longwe Twala, arrested for theft and robbery.

Brothers Arrested After Breaking Into Father’s Studio

The arrest took place on Monday, with the brothers being detained at the Douglasdale Police Station. They are scheduled to make their first court appearance at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

The incident reportedly occurred while Chicco Twala was abroad in the United States, leaving his studio vulnerable to the break-in by his own sons.

Chicco Twala, known for his contributions to the South African music industry, confirmed the incident in an interview with The Sunday World. He revealed that his son Longwe, who has been battling drug addiction, colluded with his younger brother Sello to commit the crime.

“I won’t sit and watch a drug addict continuously stealing from me and be silent.Yes, I can confirm that when I was in the USA, my son Longwe and his brother Sello colluded and stole my equipment in the studio,” Chicco stated, expressing his frustration and disappointment over the ongoing situation.

“Let Them Rot in Jail”: Chicco Twala Speaks Out

Chicco Twala did not mince words when discussing the ordeal. He shared that this was not the first time his sons had stolen from him, but it was the last straw.

Longwe, whom I chased away a while ago because of his drug addiction, jumped the high walls, broke into my studio, and stole my stuff,” he lamented.

Drawing parallels to other tragic cases involving drug-addicted children, Chicco emphasized the dangers of addiction and his determination to take a stand.

“I saw the likes of the late Hope Zinde and many parents killed by their own flesh and blood because of this drug addiction. Him and his younger brother have been stealing from me for a long time. Hence, I decided that enough was enough… Let them rot in jail.”

Social Media Reactions: Longwe Twala’s Troubled Past Resurfaces

In the wake of his recent arrest for stealing his father’s studio equipment, Longwe Twala has found himself at the centre of renewed public outrage. Many South Africans are voicing their frustrations online, insisting that he should also be held accountable for the murder of former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa—a case that remains unresolved nearly a decade later.

Here are some of the reactions;

@Zweli_Thixo;

The fact that he is not arrested for the Senzo Meyiwa case, makes his arrest worthless.

His father was the one defending him so he can as well beat Chicco up. He must learn that you never defend a child when he did wrong.

@MasindiMmben;

He should be arrestsd for Meyiwa case….

This is not what we want.

@Mgabadeli;

Which means he was using drugs the time Senzo was killed and they is high possibility that he stole his father’s gun that killed Senzo

@Tar_Rhadie;

It’s a cover up for Senzo’s murder, more charges will be pressed while inside regarding Senzo Meyiwa.
