Springboks lock Eben Etzebeth finally met his number one fan, “Elizabedi” Siya Dlamini, in Mpumalanga and Mzansi is blushing with satisfaction.
The South African men’s rugby team is currently on a World Cup trophy tour nationwide. They touched down in Mzansi on Tuesday following their fourth World Cup win in France on 28 October 2023.
The boys have been having the time of their lives, boozing and screaming their lungs out from their tour bus. So much fun are they having that fullback Damian Willemse even got a Webb-Ellis cup inked on his butt cheeks.
“Elizabedi!”
South Africa played France in the quarter-finals on 15 October 2015 at the Rugby World Cup. The match was so nailbiting, and the Springboks clinched it by a 29-28 victory over the hosts.
Eben Etzebeth put on a show in the match. In the 66th minute, he got the ball five metres from the French in-goal area. As soon as he held the ball, he bulldozed his way against the force and strength of four French players before placing the ball over the try line.
Siya was watching the match from his home in Mpumalanga. His excitement was over the roof as he watched the game in front of the TV set. When Etzebeth shoved through to the French in-goal area, Siya leapt as he screamed “Elizabedi” instead of Etzebeth.
The moment was wholesome, as Siya Dlamini ran around the house screaming, “Elizabedi, Elizabedi mfana.”
