Mzansi Magic released a statement announcing her injury and said she is currently unable to carry out her acting duties and will be replaced by another actress, while she is recovering.

“It is with both great sadness and excitement that we make this announcement. Zandile Msutwana, who plays Vuyiswa Maake, sustained an injury while on set. Unfortunately, Msutwana cannot carry out her duties and has been booked off to recover well at home,”

They also said they need to wrap up The Queen season 5 on time and they unfortunately can not wait for Msutwana to recover, hence temporarily replacing her.

“From 19 April 2021, Thembisa Mdoda-Nxumalo will be gracing our screens as the new Vuyiswa Maake. We have no doubt that with Thembisa’s immense talent and skills, along with the support and guidance she has received from Msutwana, the character of Vuyiswa Maake will continue to steal the hearts of viewers,”.

Msutwana probably got injured whilst performing a stunt on set and they didn’t specify the extent of her injuries.

This means that season 5 will end up with an altogether different Vuyiswa, from whom the fans are used to.

Telenovela fans are well known for being averse to change and taking time to warm up to character replacements.

Late last year, Muvhango fans went ballistic after the character of Hulisani was changed. The actor who replaced him went through the most on social media, with fans baying for his blood but they eventually got used to him.

Let’s hope The Queen fans are more accommodating to the new Vuyiswa.
