The River’s Rakgadi And Mabutho Are Now Officially Permanent Cast Members

Tsholofelo Matshaba who plays the role of Rakgadi and Thembinkosi Mthembu who plays the role of Mabutho have now replaced Larona Moagi and Lunga Shabalala on The River and have become starring cast this season. This also means that both actors will get a raise!

The actors are loved and adored by fans of the show and their names now appear on the opening credits of the show. Season 4 of The River started on 1Magic last Monday (8 February).

While this is Matshaba’s third season on the show, it’s Mthembu’s second season as he joined the show last season as ex-convict Mabutho.

Matshaba apparently replaced Motshidi Motshegwa who played the role of Malefu and was killed off when she had on-going feuds with her on-screen daughter, Itumeleng Mokoena, and co-producer and co-creator of the show, Gwydion.

Kedibone is Thato’s Mokoena’s sister and killed her ex-husband in self-defense as he was physically abusing her. Though Rakgadi is unemployed at the moment, she is a qualified teacher who specializes in high school Mathematics and Science.

Mabutho is a dark-horse as he’s both a gentleman and a no-nonsense, manipulative man.

Here are reactions from the actor’s fans on social media:

“This means he’s gonna be demoted soon. If you play a lead character on The River, it probably means you’re Lindiwe’s enemy. And we all know those never last. Madlabanthu deals with them.”

“Does he have a Gold teeth? I thought production don’t use people with Gold teeth or it depended on the character?”

“I know the hunnies love this here.”

“I remember his saying this on Dinner at Somizi’s that he’ll would like to see his name on the opening sequence of a show. Dreams come true.”

“Congratulations to him.”

Watch Kedibone and Mabutho on The River on Channel 103 at 20:00.
