One Gauteng resident lost his recently. He tried numerous times to call the device, but it remained unanswered.

The owner later checked his backup drive. To his surprise, he found a series of selfies taken by a stranger—presumably the current holder of the lost phone.

The alleged thief had gotten home and was relaxing on the couch, admiring his new phone. He snapped a few selfies, presumably to test its camera quality and have a feel of it.

The phone’s location was on, so the automatically backed-up pictures exposed his exact location and time stamps of when he snapped the selfies. Technology sure did a number on him.

An X influencer shared a message from the initial phone owner:

“So I lost my phone earlier today. I tried calling it. It just rings. So this guy is busy taking selfies 🤳 just saw these pictures in my backup drive 🤣 Please help me find him. The current location is Benin Street Ethefen Section Tembisa.
