Tragic Toll: Death Count Climbs to 24 in George Building Collapse
Following the devastating collapse of a building in George, the death toll has tragically risen to 24, authorities confirmed on Monday.

The structure, described as a partially-built multistory building believed to be a block of flats under construction, imploded on Monday of last week.
The catastrophic incident reportedly occurred shortly after 2 p.m. in Cape Town’s southern coastal city of George.
A cloud of dust enveloped the neighbourhood as the building’s concrete structure and surrounding metal scaffolding came crashing down.
Out of the 81 individuals who were present in the partially-constructed multistory building at the time of its collapse, 53 have been successfully evacuated, 13 are currently receiving medical care in hospitals, while the whereabouts of 28 individuals are still unknown.

Minister Cele addressed the families at the George Town Hall on Sunday, expressing his condolences and assuring them that authorities are fully committed to uncovering the cause of the tragedy.
