25-year-old Sinenhlanhla Mbokazi, a mother of two, was brutally killed just days before receiving her matriculation results by her ex. Her lifelong dream of becoming a teacher was tragically left unfulfilled, and the circumstances surrounding her death have left the community in shock.

Allegedly, Ndumi Khumalo, the father of her two children, also met a tragic end in a suspected suicide.

Victim’s Mother Devastated

Sinenhlanhla’s mother, Baphikile Mbokazi, still struggles to come to terms with the loss of her daughter. Sinenhlanhla, driven by a strong desire to become a teacher, re-enrolled in school at the age of 22, finally reaching matric at 25. Despite facing challenges, including two pregnancies, she was determined to pursue higher education to secure a better future for her family.

The fatal encounter began when Ndumi Khumalo visited Sinenhlanhla’s mother’s house under false pretences, suggesting they go shopping for school uniforms for their children. Mbokazi recounts how she felt uneasy about their plans that day, a decision that may have spared the children from a tragic fate.

“How will I explain to the kids that their father killed their mother?” laments Mbokazi, grappling with the immense pain of losing her daughter in such a horrific manner.

Police confirm the murder of the woman

Ndumi’s uncle, Dumisani Mkhwanazi, reveals the shocking discovery of the bodies on that fateful Monday. Despite appearing affectionate just a day prior, the couple’s lifeless forms were found in a room outside the main house. Ndumi, hanging from the roof, and Sinenhlanhla, showing signs of strangulation.

The local authorities, represented by KZN SAPS spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda, confirmed the incident, stating, “It is alleged that the 31-year-old fatally stabbed his girlfriend before taking his own life.”
