An American couple tragically died in Ghanzi, Botswana, after the plane they were flying in crashed yesterday.

The couple, who were visiting the country for a safari adventure, were passengers on a small plane that crashed shortly after takeoff from Eaton and Sons farm near Ghanzi, a town in the western part of the country.
The plane, which was operated by a local charter company, was heading to Maun, a popular tourist destination and gateway to the Okavango Delta.
Eyewitness Accounts
Daily News of Botswana spoke to eyewitnesses, who said the plane failed to gain altitude while taking off and hit the roof of a cattle feed storage building before exploding into flames.

The pilot and copilot, both Batswana nationals, survived the crash but suffered serious injuries from the fire. They were rushed to Ghanzi Primary Hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
The cause of the crash is still unknown and under investigation by the authorities.
The American couple, whose names have not been released yet, were identified by their passports. They were born in 1959 and 1958 respectively and hailed from California.
They had arrived in Botswana on June 26 and had planned to spend two weeks exploring the country’s wildlife and natural beauty.
Their families have been notified of their deaths and are being assisted by the U.S. Embassy in Gaborone. The embassy also expressed its condolences and offered its support to the victims’ relatives and friends.
