The night took a dark turn when they went to a local tavern with a friend around 7 p.m., never to return.

Babongile, another sibling of the twins, recounted the harrowing details of the incident as relayed by the friend who was present at the scene. According to Babongile, the friend had been inside the tavern when an altercation erupted between the twins and a group of men. Attempting to defuse the situation, the friend questioned the assailants, only to be met with gunfire.

Babongile conveyed the chilling account to ZiMoja:

“He said he enquired why they were shooting his friends, but they didn’t respond. They shot the brothers several times, later demanding his car keys, and fled the scene. It was raining, and their blood was just flowing with the water. Siyabonga was shot nine times, while Bonga was shot seven times. This was a clear hit. The way they shot at them; they were killing them.”
