South African songstress Tyla has decided to address the swirling rumors that surfaced after a seemingly “dramatic” picture of her alongside Nigerian afrobeats sensation Rema emerged last year.
The singer has been in the headlines a lot lately after her debut song, Water became an instant hit. Soon after the release of Water, Tyla announced that she had a cameo role on The Kardashians, a show about one of the most influential families in Hollywood.
The sensational Water artist recently made an appearance on The Dotty Show on Apple Music, where she discussed her journey of proudly representing South Africa and her flourishing music career.
Tyla’s Take on the Controversial Picture with Rema
It was a photograph that set social media abuzz – Tyla sharing a car with Rema, known for his hit track “Calm Down.” Fans quickly assumed they were an item. Tyla, however, had this to say about the situation:
“That was so dramatic. After that situation, I realized it had all the Hollywood vibes. You can’t trust everything you see, because it did look like a scandal. But yeah, we’re just friends,”
When asked which celebrity she would choose as her prom date, Tyla revealed that she’d opt for Rema. She also emphasized that she doesn’t have any celebrity crushes.
Raising the South African Flag High
Talking about her South African roots, Tyla proudly declared:
“Yoh, it’s a flex. I keep saying it – being from South Africa is such a flex, especially in this moment. It’s a source of great pride for all of us.”
Tyla also delved into the global phenomenon that is amapiano music, a South African sound that has taken the world by storm. She stated:
“Everyone takes immense pride in our country, and we’re always boasting about our music, especially amapiano. We know we’ve got the sauce, our parties in South Africa are wild, and I’m thrilled to be one of the artists furthering its reach.”
