Details of the Incident

The alleged assault occurred in Durban on the night of August 31, when the two men were reportedly returning from an entertainment venue in Morningside.

The victim claimed that Mhlongo, who had been in a romantic relationship with him from 2020 to 2021 and recently rekindled their relationship, became jealous after an interaction with friends.

After one of our friends blew kisses at me, I didn’t realize Siya was angry about it. We went to his car, where a heated argument about the blowing of kisses ensued. He was angry, accusing me of cheating on him with one of our friends. He said friends would not say goodbye by blowing kisses if we weren’t dating each other,” the victim revealed.

Allegations of Violence

The victim alleged that the situation escalated when Mhlongo forced him to call the friend to confirm they were not dating.

When he refused, Siya reportedly started attacking him with a bottle.

“I refused, and he started to attack me with an alcohol bottle on my face. Then, he punched me until a VW Polo passing by stopped, and the occupants intervened. After that, I stepped out of the car and took a video as evidence when he was asking to take me to the hospital. I refused as I felt unsafe,” he recounted.
