Two car wash workers died in an accident on Sunday afternoon when they took a police vehicle for an errand and crashed into a tipper truck.
The incident occurred near The Village guest house along the R40 road in Acornhoek, Mpumalanga. CCTV cameras captured the sequence of events leading to the fatal crash, which involved a South African Police Service White VW Golf 7, a Polo, and a tipper truck.
How The Car Wash Workers Got The Police car Into An Accident
According to reports, a car wash employee took a police Golf 7 vehicle, which had been left at the car wash for cleaning. He took a fellow employee for the trip to purchase equipment for the business.
The two employees attempted to overtake another vehicle ahead of them when a truck approached from the opposite lane. The police Golf 7 bumped into a Polo, causing the driver to lose control and move out of the road. The out-of-control car wash workers’ Golf 7 crashed head-on into the tipper truck.
The driver of the Golf 7 and his passenger died following the crash. Two other individuals sustained severe injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the unauthorised use of the police vehicle and the events that led to the accident.

“Why didn’t he just hit the brakes instead of trying to change lanes 😐 he was still gonna bump into the car in front, but he would have lived.”
