Watch: Dept. of Correctional Services Gives The Scoop On Nandipha’s Prison Glow-up
Celebrity aesthetics doctor, Dr. Nandipha Magudumana, has sparked conversation with her recent “prison glow up,” leaving many curious about how she manages to have her makeup, hair, and nails done while behind bars. Magudumana, who is associated with convicted rapist and murderer Thabo Bester, initially appeared in court with her face covered by an N95 mask. However, during her second appearance, the court ordered her to reveal her face for identification purposes.
A Glamorous Transformation
Magudumana surprised onlookers with a fully done-up appearance, including perfectly manicured nails, styled hair, and immaculate makeup. Notably, she was seen wearing a ring, which is typically confiscated by prison officials upon arrest. The sight of her wearing bold red lipstick and sporting a Nike brand outfit led to mixed reactions, with some questioning how she didn’t “look like her problems.”

Responding to the concerns, the correctional services department explained that accused individuals who have not been sentenced are allowed access to their belongings when attending court. In addition, prisons often have hair salons run by inmates as part of skills development and training programs.
According to a report on prison conditions, the Kroonstad female prison, where Magudumana is held, is described as “clean, orderly, and comfortable,” with well-cared-for inmates. The report specifically mentions the presence of a hair salon within the prison, where many inmates have the opportunity to beautify themselves.
Magudumana is not yet convicted, so people like her are given access to their personal belongings when going to court. That is the reason for her rings and fancy clothes in her court hearings.
