A distressing video of a Durban Metro Police officer who fatally stabbed his pregnant girlfriend, a fellow officer, has evoked tears online.
How Durban Metro Police Officer Killed His Pregnant Girlfriend
On 31 March 2024, the police officer, 27-year-old Sizwe Ngema, decided to go savage and stab his girlfriend, Yolanda Bianca Khuzwayo. It is still unclear why he attacked the mother of his unborn baby.
The two seemed cute and so much in love, as they even shared pictures of their hospital pregnancy visits. Things, however, went south early Sunday morning, and Sizwe unleashed inexplicable rage on his woman. The couple was binging on alcohol when Sizwe ruthlessly stabbed Yolanda all over her upper body, hellbent on leaving her lifeless. Afterwards, he stole her mobile phone.

In an unhinged turn of events, Sizwe recorded Yolanda as her life slowly faded, crimson foam oozing out of her mouth. He even zoomed in as her eyes were turning, and the knife he used to murder her was stuck in her chest. Yolanda’s t-shirt was heavily drenched in her blood. Done; Sizwe sent the cringe video to various WhatsApp groups and on social media. Hours later, Sizwe’s family surrendered him to the police, leading to his arrest.

Yolanda’s Family Overwhelmed By Grief
On 2 April, the murderer appeared at the Durban Magistrates’ Court, facing charges of premeditated murder and theft. The Magistrate postponed the case for a formal bail application and the outcome of his legal aid application.
When Sizwe appeared in court, donning a t-shirt emblazoned, ‘Living My Best Life’, Yolanda Khuzwayo’s family broke down in tears.
Her aunt Nozipho Khuzwayo bemoaned:
“What he did was not a mistake; he did it on purpose, and the video he made showed that he was proud. That guy was evil. I saw the evil look in his eye. There was this one time I asked Yolanda, ‘Are you sure that you and this person are just friends?’ and she said we would talk about it. The look he gave me was [deadly]. That person is evil. If you speak about evil, it’s in him.”
Nozipho and Yolanda’s cousin, Philasande Khuzwayo, confirmed that Sizwe had been physically abusive towards her in their relationship. However, when Nozipho expressed her displeasure towards the relationship, Yolanda started hiding that she was still dating Sizwe.
Ultimately, she ended up dying violently.
