EFF Leader Julius Malema has been the talk of social media after delivering a historic speech at the 10th Anniversary celebrations of the political party. Many people have been commenting on the epic speech and mic drop while closing his speech.

Julius Malema addresses haters

EFF leader Julius Malema used his speech at the party’s 10th-anniversary celebration at FNB Stadium in Soweto to take a swipe at those who had predicted the party’s demise within a year of its formation in 2013.

Addressing thousands of EFF supporters from across the country, Malema expressed his satisfaction in proving the “doomsayers” wrong. He proudly announced that EFF, which they once said would “never achieve 1% of the vote,” is now an undeniable force in South African politics, firmly securing its place as the third largest party in the country.

“They said EFF was only passing by. EFF is not going anywhere, EFF is still here, and EFF is still going to be around. Whether they like it or not. They are witnessing history today,”

Malema said, which was met with thunderous cheers from the crowd. The EFF’s resilience and growing popularity were evident as the FNB Stadium, with a capacity of 94,000 people, was filled to the brim with enthusiastic supporters.

Malema also took a moment to address journalists who had written off the party’s chances from the beginning. He recalled a journalist’s claim that only the ANC could fill up the FNB Stadium. Malema responded by phoning the journalist and asserting that it would be the EFF that would surpass the stadium’s capacity. The sight of thousands of supporters jubilantly filling up the stadium was a testament to the EFF’s growing influence and appeal.

Remembering the Icons

In his speech, Malema paid tribute to two prominent figures who left a lasting impact on the EFF and South Africa. He fondly remembered Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, whose spirit continues to live on in the hearts of all EFF members. The party’s headquarters are aptly named after the fearless woman who championed the rights of the oppressed. Malema also honoured his former comrade in the ANC Youth League, Sindiso Magaqa, whose dedication to the struggle is forever etched in their memories.

Support from Other Opposition Leaders

Leaders of other opposition parties, including UDM president Bantu Holomisa and ATM president Vuyo Zungula, showed solidarity with the EFF by attending the 10th-anniversary rally and delivering messages of support. This display of unity among opposition parties sent a clear message to the ruling ANC that they are ready to stand together against corruption and for the betterment of South Africa.

A Firm Declaration of Continued Presence

Malema’s passionate speech concluded with a strong declaration: “Comrades, we are here. They like it or not. We just came to confirm to them that we are here, we are not going nowhere, and we will be here for the next 10 years.” As EFF celebrates its first decade, the party has proven its resilience, defied the odds, and cemented its position as a formidable political force in the nation.
