Why Ukhozi FM Presenter Assaulted Boyfriend
The alleged victim, a 29-year-old man who claims to be Mhlongo’s boyfriend, said the popular radio presenter assaulted and stabbed him in the face.
The altercation reportedly occurred in Durban on Saturday, 31 August, after the couple was returning from a night out in Morningside.
The man, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Daily Sun that he and Mhlongo had been in a relationship from 2020 to 2021 but had broken up. They decided to rekindle their relationship earlier this year.
According to the man, the trouble began after they enjoyed a night out with friends. As they were saying their goodbyes, one of the friends blew kisses at him, which allegedly triggered Mhlongo’s jealousy.
“I didn’t realise that Siya was angry about it. We went to his car where a heated argument started. He was angry, accusing me of cheating on him with one of our friends. He said a friend would not say goodbye by blowing kisses,” the man explained.
The situation escalated when Mhlongo allegedly demanded that he call the friend to confirm they were not romantically involved.
“I refused and he started to attack me with an alcohol bottle on my face. He punched me until a car which was passing by stopped and the people in that vehicle intervened.I stepped out of the car and took a video as evidence when he asked to take me to hospital. I refused because I felt unsafe,” he said.
