A 44-year-old pastor faces serious charges after allegedly raping his 16-year-old niece in Sabie, Mpumalanga.
The incident, which has shocked the local community, occurred on October 3, 2023. The victim, a grade 11 pupil, went to the pastor’s home for prayer after suffering from a leg infection.
Pastor Arrested for Alleged Rape of Niece in Mpumalanga
The victim’s aunt told Daily Sun the pastor began flirting with the girl upon her arrival.
“She told him she was uncomfortable with what he was doing, but he continued touching her,” the aunt stated.
Despite her attempts to resist, the pastor allegedly overpowered her, undressed her, and raped her in his bedroom.
After the attack, the pastor reportedly sent the victim WhatsApp voice messages expressing admiration for her strength. He allegedly requested that she delete the messages, claiming that no one would understand their “divine connection.” The victim confided in her family, who subsequently reported the incident to the police on October 5.

Community outrage has erupted following the revelation of the pastor’s actions.
“We trusted him with everything, but he took advantage of that,” the victim’s aunt expressed.
She added that the family had relied on the pastor for support during tough times. Another family member echoed these sentiments, stating they had respected the pastor, unaware of his predatory nature.
The pastor, who appeared in the Sabie Magistrate Court on October 11, faces charges of rape and possession of an unlicensed firearm. His case is set for a bail hearing on October 17. Mpumalanga police spokesman Colonel Donald Mdluli urges other potential victims to come forward.
