Renowned actor Wiseman Mncube, who made a name for himself on the famous soapie Uzalo, is bidding farewell to the soapie after six years of his role on it.
South Africa’s popular soap opera, Uzalo, concluded its ninth season on Wednesday, marking the departure of the acclaimed actor Wiseman Mncube.
Wiseman Mncube as Sbonelo on Uzalo
Within the storyline, Masoja Msiza’s character, Nkunzi Mhlongo, portrays Sbonelo’s on-screen father, leading him into a life of crime.
In 2023, news circulated that Mncube had formally resigned from his role, prompting him to reflect on his journey via social media.

“It’s been a beautiful journey, ngyabonga kakhulu [thank you so much] for the love and support you gave Sbonelo Babongile Mhlongo,”
he expressed. “I will never forget this journey, which changed my life. Good luck to the remaining soldiers. Continue with the baton maqhawe [heroes]; one love, one blood forever, Uzalo.”
Other roles Wiseman Mncube has portrayed
In 2023, Mncube showcased his versatility by portraying the beloved artist Mduduzi “Mandoza” Tshabalala in the biopic “Nkalakatha: The Life of Mandoza.”
Simultaneously, he took on the role of Zwide, a lead character in “Shaka iLembe.”

Currently, Mncube graces the screen in “My Brother’s Keeper,” a prime-time telenovela on Mzansi Magic. The show revolves around a family entangled in a fatal succession war.
The protagonist, Nqubeko Shabalala, an ambitious and assertive son of a mistress, decides to challenge the customary ukungena by pursuing his brother’s widow, Fakazile (Zola Nombona).
Fakazile holds a position of significant power within the Shabalala family empire.
