Woman Sues Laser Clinic For Burning Her Kuku During Hair Removal
What was meant to boost her confidence turned into a nightmare for Amy Romero after a laser hair removal session left her with painful burns in sensitive areas of her body.
Romero is suing New You Laser, claiming her appointment in February 2023 was disastrous, resulting in severe burns to her underarms and kuku.

Woman Claims Kuku Was Burnt During Hair Removal Procedure
In her lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, Romero says she felt an intense burning sensation as soon as the procedure began. When she expressed her discomfort to the technician, she was reassured that everything was normal and that the machine was set to its usual temperature. The technician even suggested her pain might be due to her menstrual cycle.
According to Romero, the technician did not check or adjust the laser’s temperature and continued the treatment despite her concerns about the laser appearing unusually bright and yellow. When Romero reported pain in her underarms, the technician proceeded to the bikini area, where she experienced a “scorching sensation.”
Technician Ignored Warnings
Romero claims she had to stop the technician due to unbearable pain, but the technician attempted to continue the session, which Romero refused. The technician provided hydrocortisone cream for relief, but the pain only intensified. Romero noticed redness and dark circles forming on her skin, leading her to believe her skin might peel off. When she begged for more help, the technician and shop owner only offered additional cream, taking 15 minutes to bring an ice pack and ointments—none of which alleviated her pain.
In agony, Romero could barely walk out of the salon and had to call an Uber to the emergency room. There, doctors diagnosed her with first-degree burns on her underarms and kuku.

Permanent Scarring and Impact on Career
Romero reports that her burns required treatment from a dermatologist, who informed her that her pubic area may never fully heal. The burns left her with painful and unsightly scars, preventing her from working as a dancer and causing her to miss out on shows, auditions, and modelling opportunities.
Now, Romero is seeking US$1.5 million in damages from New You Laser. The company declined to comment when contacted by TMZ.
