Zinhle Mabena’s Husband Arrested
Actress Zinhle Mabena’s husband, Robert Ngwenya has been issued with an arrest for allegedly violating the protection order set by his wife.
The warrant of arrest which was issued by the Pretoria magistrate’s court on Friday read:
“You are hereby authorized and ordered to forthwith arrest the respondent (Ngwenya) in terms of the provisions of the Domestic Violence Act if there are reasonable grounds to suspect that the complainant (Mabena) may suffer imminent harm as a result of the alleged breach of the protection order by the respondent.”
Mabena’s lawyer Joshua Lazarus also confirmed to the media that a warrant of arrest was issued for Ngwenya in a statement:
“I can further confirm that the warrant of arrest was given to the Erasmia police station in Centurion in order to execute the warrant. However, Mr. Ngwenya was not located at his residence on Friday evening,” he said.
This comes after the Isibaya actress, Zinhle Mabena was jailed for allegedly trying to murder her husband and killing her husband’s driver.
Though the actress was released from jail after the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) due to lack of evidence, it seems like the couple isn’t done airing their dirty laundry in public.
Ngwenya’s lawyer, Shani Van Niekerk, had this to say regarding his warrant of arrest:
“I deny that a warrant of arrest is issued for my client. If so, he does not know about it. I spoke to my client and he indicated that no member of the SAPS arrived at his home nor have they made any contact with him,” van Niekerk said. She then launched into a tirade against Sowetan of embarking on a “fishing expedition”.
Mabena apparently obtained a protection order against her husband in December after her husband tried to enter her property without her approval.
