Zulu King’s Poisoning Shock: King Misuzulu KaZwelithini Scared to Seek Treatment in South Africa, Rushes to Swaziland Hospital

In a disturbing turn of events, the Zulu King, King Misuzulu KaZwelithini, has been taken to a hospital in Swaziland amidst grave concerns that he might have been poisoned.

Late on Saturday evening, the Traditional Prime Minister, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, made the announcement about the King’s hospitalization.

In a statement, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi revealed that King Misuzulu was admitted to the hospital on Saturday, following the sudden death of his close aide, Mr Xaba, who was suspected to have been poisoned.

It was also disclosed that King Misuzulu opted for medical attention in Swaziland due to his discomfort in seeking treatment in South Africa, where both of his parents had received medical care and subsequently passed away.

The current state of the King’s health was mentioned, and authorities will be investigating his suspicions of poisoning.

Announcement on His Majesty the King’s Health
By Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi
MP
Traditional Prime Minister to the Zulu Monarch and Nation

1 July 2023

It is with great concern that | have received news from HRH Prince Vumile, brother to His Majesty King Mswati Ill,
that His Majesty King Misuzulu kaZwelithini is being treated in a hospital in eSwatini, having taken ill earlier today.

I am informed that His Majesty’s senior Induna, Mr Xaba, who stayed with the King, passed on quite suddenly and that there are suspicions that he was poisoned. When His Majesty began to feel unwell, he suspected that he too may have been poisoned. He immediately sought out medical treatment in eSwatini.

I am informed that His Majesty felt uncomfortable seeking treatment in South Africa, as his parents had both received treatment in South Africa and subsequently died.

It is understood that His Majesty is under medical care and is doing well. Further information will be conveyed when it becomes available.

While His Majesty recently appointed Prince Africa Zulu as head of communication and stakeholder relations
in his office, I, as the traditional Prime Minister to the Zulu Monarch and Nation have an obligation to inform the nation of this worrying situation.

Our immediate concern is for the King’s wellbeing. We as the Zulu Nation pray for His Majesty’s full and swift recovery. Should there be any reason for further investigations, that will be attended to by the authorities.
