Queen Ntokozo Mayisela-Zulu, the first wife of King Misuzulu ka Zwelithini, has publicly addressed ongoing speculation regarding her absence from various royal ceremonies. In an official statement, the queen emphasized that her reasons are private and have been communicated to the king. She noted that, while she has previously chosen to remain silent in the face of rumours, her silence has often been misinterpreted or exploited.
Personal Reasons Behind Her Absence
Clarifying her position, Queen Ntokozo reassured the Zulu nation of her unwavering commitment to the royal throne and the people it represents. She explained:
“I want to assure the Zulu nation that I remain fully devoted to the throne. My passion for this nation and my dedication to supporting its growth have not, and will not, falter. My absence stems from personal reasons, which His Majesty the King fully understands.”

Addressing Misconceptions About the Third Marriage
The queen also took the opportunity to debunk several circulating rumours, including claims about her opposition to polygamy and the alleged birth of a third child.
“I am the proud mother of two sons and have not given birth to any other children. I have no issue with polygamy, but I was not informed of my husband’s recent marriage. Like the rest of the nation, I discovered this through social media.”
Queen Ntokozo also noted that she has neither met the king’s new wife nor received customary gifts from her, as no formal introduction or discussions regarding her lobola have occurred. Despite this, she confirmed no conflict between her and the king’s new wife.
