Rapper and actor Zuluboy has addressed recent rumours suggesting he is set to become the new MEC for Arts and Culture in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) uner the MK Party.
Will Zuluboy Be The KZN MEC Under The MK Party
Following the uMkhonto Wesizwe (MK Party)’s impressive performance in the 2024 election, speculation about Zuluboy’s potential appointment has been widespread. However, the entertainer has firmly distanced himself from these reports.
Over the weekend, reports surfaced that Zuluboy, born Mxolisi Majozi, was the frontrunner for the MEC position after the MK Party secured 45.35% of the vote in KZN.
This significant victory put the MK Party ahead of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) and the African National Congress (ANC), which received 18.28% and 16.99% of the votes, respectively. Despite the MK Party’s substantial lead, rumours about Zuluboy’s executive role gained traction.

In an interview with Daily Sun, the former “Durban Gen” star denied these claims, calling them baseless and damaging.
“A journalist called me, and I was so surprised. I told him that I had no comment as I did not know what he was talking about. The next thing I see the story going viral on various media platforms. This is damaging. I can’t be deployed by the media. These reports prove that the media have given me the position, and I can’t accept it. It’s only MK that can deploy me, not the media. So, I’m waiting for the party to deploy me.”

The Next Course Of Action
Zuluboy currently serves as an executive member of the uMkhonto Wesizwe Creative Council, the MK Party’s creative wing. Despite the party’s electoral success, it is clear that coalition negotiations are on the horizon.
MK Party spokesman Nhlamulo Ndhlela confirmed that no official appointments have been made in KZN yet.
The MK Party’s victory marks a significant shift in KZN’s political landscape, outpacing both the IFP and ANC. However, as coalition talks loom, the final composition of the provincial government remains uncertain.
