ANC Councillor Shot in Front of Wife in Mpumalanga
In a tragic incident, an ANC councillor was shot in front of his wife on Tuesday night.
Police in Mpumalanga have swiftly initiated a manhunt for four individuals believed to be behind the shooting.
The incident unfolded in Mangweni, located in Nkomazi. Four criminals, concealing their identities with balaclavas, forcefully entered the residence of Councillor Thabo Ngwenya while he and his family were watching television.

According to reports, the assailants demanded money, cellphones, and car keys opening fire on the 35-year-old Ngwenya.
Adding to the already harrowing situation, it is alleged that the gunmen subjected his wife to further physical assault and robbery. Mpumalanga SAPS spokesperson Colonel Richard Mdhluli has officially confirmed the incident.
“The police in Tonga are investigating a case of murder and robbery following an incident where about four suspects are said to have stormed into a certain house in Mangweni near Komatipoort. They then reportedly shot the male victim twice then assaulted his wife. The suspects also robbed the victims of their cellphones and a bakkie,” he said.

ANC Councillor Shot In Front of Wife in Mpumalanga Succumbs to Injuries
Mdhluli further noted that despite efforts to save him, Ngwenya succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital using private transport. As of now, the motive behind the attack remains unclear, and no arrests have been made.
“The motive for the killing is not yet established. No one has been arrested as yet and the police are hard at work ensuring that suspects are sought and apprehended,” he said.
