Eyadini Lounge Star Dancer Ntokozo Shandu Tragically Shot Dead Defending His TV During Home Invasion
Renowned dancer Ntokozo “Spirit” Shandu, known for his captivating performances at Eyadini Lounge in Umlazi township, Durban, KwaZulu Natal, lost his life in a tragic incident on Saturday night. Three intruders entered his family’s home, stealing their cellphones and television.
Ntokozo’s family, which includes his sisters and nephews, is now gripped by fear and deeply affected by the horrifying event they had to endure.
A Brave Confrontation with Armed Intruders
According to the family, when the armed intruders tried to take their television, Shandu displayed remarkable bravery by confronting them. He even challenged them to harm him. Themba Shandu, Ntokozo’s brother, shared their ongoing struggle to accept the tragic loss with ZiMoja.
“We are still shocked about what happened. Knowing we will never see him again is a hard pill to swallow. Those people should have taken the TV like they did with the cellphones,” he said.

A Tragic Outcome: Eyadini Dancer Shot Dead
Themba, who was not present during the robbery, explained that the criminals demanded Ntokozo to unplug the television. In response, his brother dared the robbers to harm him instead.
“I am told my brother refused and told them to shoot and kill him instead. He was not prepared to give away his television just like that and it cost him his life,” added Themba.
Themba further recounted how the assailants callously shot his brother in front of the entire family, including young children, hitting him in the head and chest. He emphasized their efforts to arrange therapy for the family, given the traumatic experience they endured.
“We are now forced to organise counselling for the whole family as Ntokozo was shot and killed in front of them. Those criminals were heartless, they should have taken the TV and leave my brother alone. He was a good person who had no problem with anyone,” Themba said.
