Veteran actor who has featured on Generations and Isibaya, Carlo Radebe, is reportedly homeless and surviving on the R350 grant
The Sterling Career Of Carlo Radebe
Radebe has a prolific career and has featured in some of the biggest shows and movies in South Africa. His work spans across television, movies and theatre productions.
The 51-year-old legendary actor, who has been performing since 1980, has starred in television productions like Generations, Isibaya, Isidingo, 7de Laan, Soul City, Jozi-H, Backstage and many others.
Beside multiple theatrical productions, Radebe has also played in movies like iNumber Number, How To Steal 2 Million, Mandla, Mr Right Guy and Cuckold.
Carlo Radebe Homeless And Broke
Despite having graced the screen and the stage for over four decades, Carlo Radebe has nothing to show for it. It has gotten so worse that he is hardly getting acting gigs now and his life has talent a hard knock.
MDN News reported that Carlo is now homeless and broke. He was renting a place in Johannesburg and because his sources of income dried, he could not pay for it. His landlord ended up evicting him and he is now homeless.
Radebe is getting by with the R350 government grant.
Radebe is not the first artist to trend for missing out on gigs and struggling to make a living. In 2022, Vusi Thanda released a video appealing for donations from Mzansi.
Mzansi Decries The Plight Of Veteran Actors
South Africans on social media lamented the entertainment industry, complaining about how shows are blueticking legendary actors.
Chris:
“This man is easily the top 5 of the best villains on SA televisions.”
ChrisExcel:
“We are paying DSTV and TV license to watch the same actors doing 5 different shows. We are paying DSTV and TV license to watch talentless influencers who get gigs ngokudu***a. While talented legends Carlo Radebe are suffering and struggling to find gigs 😭😭”
Taylor:
“Honestly speaking, how can he secure a gig when the gigs are given to the same people on different movies and stories over and over again? The same people even get gigs as radio presenters, TV presenters, DJs. Hai its too much and unfair.”
Amza:
“💔 Such a talented man. I really enjoyed his character as Duke on Backstage.”
Sabelo:
“These are the people that deserve donations, Which account are we donating on?”
Themba:
“Iyoh being an actor in this South Africa is like getting piece jobs mos.”
