Going Au Naturel with Ancestral Blessings: Zodwa Wabantu Reveals Her Ancestors Allow Her To Perform N_ked
Zodwa Wabantu has revealed that her ancestors approve of her going onstage with skimpy clothes and no panties.
The controversial exotic dancer and entertainer, born Zodwa Libram, says people should not expect her to act or dress differently now that she has accepted her calling as a sangoma.
Zodwa Wabantu Journey With Her Ancestors
The dancer raised eyebrows and questions when she accepted her gift to be a sangoma about two years ago. Many thought she would ditch her career or at least perform fully clothed, but the nonchalant mother of one just continued dancing half-naked.
Zodwa Wabantu told City Press that she obeys her ancestors, and they do not have a problem with her being a n_ked sangoma. She says she does not have to conform to the stereotypes or expectations of society when it comes to her spiritual journey.
“I am not ashamed of who I am or what I do. I am proud of being a sangoma, and I am proud of being an entertainer. These are both my gifts, and I use them to make a living and to make people happy. My ancestors know me, and they love me for who I am. They see nothing wrong with me being a n_ked sangoma,” she told City Press.
Unfazed By Naysayers
She added that she does not care about the opinions or judgments of others who do not understand her lifestyle or choices. She said she is happy and fulfilled with her life, and she does not need anyone’s approval or validation.
“I don’t listen to the haters or the critics. They don’t know me or my story. They don’t know what I have been through or what I have overcome. They don’t know the relationship I have with my ancestors or how they guide and protect me. They don’t know the joy and peace I feel when I dance or when I heal people. They don’t know anything about me, so why should I care about what they say?” she said.
Zodwa Wabantu said she will continue to do what she loves and what makes her happy, regardless of the backlash or controversy she may face. She said she is not afraid to be herself and to express herself in any way she wants.
“I am Zodwa Wabantu, the n_ked sangoma, and I am not going to change for anyone. This is who I am, and this is how I live my life. If you don’t like it, you can look away or mind your own business. But if you like it, you can join me and have some fun. Life is too short to be boring or to worry about what other people think. Just be yourself and do what makes you happy,” she said.
