The 15-year-old pupil has been locking herself indoors, missing her September mock exams in a desperate attempt to protect herself.

She told me I have a dark cloud hanging over my head and I need to go to her to be cleansed as I have bad luck,” she told Daily Sun, with her mother’s consent.

Her mother is furious and demands her daughter be removed from the school.

My daughter is no longer going out like she used to. The department should remove her from that school because this sangoma pupil has turned my daughter into her project. She might be controlling her with muthi, and my daughter fears her,” she said.

Gogo Muntu Segage of the Ekurhuleni Traditional Healers Organisation stated they are aware of the case and are waiting for the girl and her mother to open a formal complaint. They plan to call the sangoma, her gobela, and her parents to account for their actions.
