“I Feel Deep Pain”: Nellie Tembe’s Father Refutes AKA Shooting Allegations

Nellie Tembe’s father, Moses Tembe, has spoken up in response to the accusations that are currently circulating on social media that he was involved in the shooting of AKA, real name Kiernan Forbes.

AKA was shot and killed on February 10 outside a restaurant in Durban during his birthday tour.

The rapper was about to leave after spending time with friends when a suspected hitman approached him and shot him.

In April 2021, AKA’s former fiancée, Anele “Nellie” Tembe, died after jumping off the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town.

Their relationship was reportedly tumultuous, with frequent arguments. The reason for her decision to take her own life has not yet been fully disclosed.

During Nellie Tembe’s funeral, her father Moses Tembe publicly stated that his daughter had never shown any signs of suicidal behavior, which led to speculation that AKA may have been involved in her death.

Following AKA’s murder in Nellie’s hometown of Durban, some Twitter users assumed that Moses Tembe may have played a role in the incident as a form of retribution for his daughter’s death.

To quell the accusations, Tembe issued a statement on February 11th expressing condolences to the Forbes family.

The Daily Sun also interviewed Moses Tembe about the allegations that he was involved in hiring hitmen to kill the Fela In Versace artist.

He refuted the claims and stated that those who were acquainted with him and his family would never spread such rumors.

“We’ve never judged Kiernan. We demonstrated our love for him to his very last day. We’re so saddened by this sad eventuality as it robs us of the opportunity we have been waiting for so patiently to vindicate our daughter in court or in an inquest.”
