Sonia Mbele was recently attacked by a socialite Uyanda Mazibuko at a party meant to honour her. The actress has been in the headlines a lot lately due to a number of reasons.
South African actress Sonia was recently honoured at the NFTA (National Film and Television Awards). To celebrate her achievement, her friends organized a special gathering at Saints Restaurant.
Events that took place at the Saints Restaurant
According to Maphepha Ndaba, Nkululeko Madlala who was overseeing the arrangements for Sonia’s celebrations, had planned a memorable evening at a reserved table. However, an unexpected turn of events disrupted the celebration. A socialite named Uyanda Mazibuko and her partner allegedly confronted Sonia and her group at their table, creating a tense atmosphere.

Rumours suggest that Sonia was subjected to public humiliation during the confrontation. She was reportedly given an ultimatum – either leave the table or face a potentially explosive situation.
As tensions escalated, chaos ensued, and eyewitnesses claimed that wigs were sent flying through the air. It seemed like Sonia was on the verge of a serious altercation that could have had severe consequences. Fortunately, the situation was defused by the restaurant’s manager who promptly arranged a different table for Sonia.
Despite being relocated, Sonia was still shaken by the experience and concerned for her safety. As she prepared to depart, an additional incident occurred. Uyanda’s boyfriend allegedly pulled Sonia’s wig, further escalating the confrontation.
The reason why Sonia Mbele was attacked
Sources have revealed that Uyanda harboured resentment towards Sonia due to a past incident. It is said that Uyanda was offered a role in the third season of the reality TV show RHOJ, but her age became an issue. The show required participants to be 25 years or older, and Uyanda’s exclusion from the show left her feeling bitter.
As of now, Sonia is taking legal action against the couple who publicly attacked her. She has filed a case of assault, seeking justice for the unsettling events that took place during what was meant to be a joyous celebration of her NFTA award win.
