Kefilwe Mabote Fears For Her Life After Ex-husband Threatens to Hire Hitmen to Murder Her
Social media influencer Kefilwe Mabote, popularly known as “Kefiboo”, has come forward with allegations of abuse against her former husband during their ongoing custody battle.
The socialite is living in fear after her ex-husband threatened to hire hitmen to kill her.
Kefilwe Mabote Alleges Abuse by Ex-Husband in Custody Battle
Kefilwe Mabote appeared in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where she is facing off with her ex-husband over the custody of their child.
In court documents seen by the Sunday World, Mabote detailed a history of domestic violence, alleging that her former husband physically assaulted her on multiple occasions.
According to Mabote’s affidavit, the first incident of violence occurred during an argument when her husband “shoved her against the wall and grabbed her by the throat.”
She stated that he continued to physically attack her, including an incident at a Johannesburg club where he “almost killed her with a screwdriver.”
“He almost killed me with a screwdriver to give him his and my car and go away without any of my personal belongings (sic),” reads her submission for the court order.
Kefilwe’s Suicide Attempt
Mabote claimed that the abuse escalated to the point where she feared for her life, alleging that her former husband threatened to poison her or hire hitmen to murder her. As a result, Kefilwe Mabote attempted to commit suicide before fleeing their marital home to seek refuge at a safe place.
“As a direct result of both the ongoing emotional, physical, and mental abuse I suffered at the hands of the applicant, I attempted to take my own life,” she stated in the papers.
Kefilwe revealed that ex-husband physically attacked her when she told him that she would be leaving him.
“During one instance, when he physically attacked me, I suffered injuries to my chest area.
Competing Protection Orders Filed by Estranged Couple
The social media influencer obtained a protection order against her ex-husband at the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court prior to the current custody battle. However, the former husband subsequently filed his own protection order against Kefilwe Mabote, accusing her of attempted murder by poisoning and hiring people to attack him.
Mabote refuted these allegations, stating that the former husband “simply copied and pasted” her own claims of abuse onto his application. She denied assaulting or attempting to kill her ex-spouse, and accused him of fabricating the allegations in a “desperate bid to portray her as an unfit mother.”
“Furthermore, I deny that I allegedly attempted to kill the applicant by employing certain persons to come to the applicant’s place of residence and instructing those persons to assault and kill the applicant.
“At no point have I ever assaulted the applicant, nor have I ever chased him with scissors in an attempt to stab and kill him,” she stated in the court papers.
