Drip Footwear Drowning: Lekau Sehoana Faces Eviction After Failing To Pay Rent

The year 2023 is not a good year for Lekau Sehoana, the owner of the sneaker brand Drip Footwear, as he faces eviction for failing to pay rent.

Earlier in the year, Sehoana had to close down Kiddies Republic, another business of his, due to its inability to generate sufficient financial returns.

Liquidation and Closure of Kiddies Republic

In a statement released in June, Sehoana revealed that Kiddies Republic, his children’s clothing brand, was undergoing liquidation with liquidators appointed by the Master of the High Court. The store at Mall of the North in Polokwane was also shut down after he was evicted for failure to pay rent.

Kiddies Republic staff members also allegedly went for three months without getting paid.

Lekau Sehoana Fights Eviction From Springs Mall in Gauteng

Now, a recent report by Sunday World indicates that Lekau Sehoana is facing eviction from Springs Mall in Gauteng for failing to pay rent. Drip Footwear and Sehoana, listed as first and second respondents respectively, are facing legal action in the Johannesburg High Court initiated by the mall owners—Blue Crane Eco Mall, Vukile Property Fund, Murinda Investments, and F&G Investments 2.

According to court documents, Springs Mall owners are seeking an eviction order to kick out the Drip Footwear store from the building following Lekau Sehona’s failure to pay about half a million rand in rent and services.

Personal Struggles and Legal Drama

Lekau Sehoana has also faced challenges on the domestic front this year. He filed a case against his estranged wife, Lebohang Machaba, before leaving for Paris, France, claiming that she had hired hitmen to kill him. Lebohang was arrested and charged with extortion and conspiracy to murder but was released from custody before going to trial.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Lumka Mahanjana, stated that the matter was not enrolled due to insufficient evidence.
