Makhadzi Blue Ticks Open Mic Productions, Requests Direct Bookings
South African musician Makhadzi has told her fans to book her directly rather than going through her former record label Open Mic Productions.
Taking to Twitter, she wrote:
“Book me now. Don’t book me via open mic cz honestly I won’t show up, the contract has ended. I don’t want to fight with promoters and my fans.”
Recently, Makhadzi explained in a media statement that she made the decision not to extend her contract, which was originally supposed to expire in March 2023, after enjoying three years of productive and positive collaboration with Open Mic Productions.
She further stated that she declined the offer to renew her contract in order to focus on her personal company, Makhadzi Entertainment, and other business ventures.
Nkateko Maluleke, a spokesperson for Open Mic Productions, declined to comment on Makhadzi’s departure from the label but acknowledged that she was previously one of their artists.
Despite the departure, Makhadzi’s latest single released under her own company, Makhadzi Entertainment, is currently out and everything seems to be running smoothly.
Makhadzi Alleges That Open Mic Productions Owes Her Money
Although the Matorokisi hitmaker had a public dispute with Open Mic Productions, she appeared cheerful at the Metro FM Awards.
During the event, she emphasized that she is serious about receiving the compensation she is owed and is not playing around.
Makhadzi was also a winner at the 17th annual Metro FM Awards, held at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
Makhadzi had a strained relationship with her former management company, Open Mic, and had considered not attending the award ceremony as a result.
Despite this, the Matorokisi hitmaker ultimately attended and appeared to be in good spirits.
Following her win, Somizi had a conversation with Makhadzi in which she stated that she is determined to receive the money owed to her.
