Makhadzi Breaks Ties With Open Mic Productions
South African musician Makhadzi is currently trending after it was reported that she has ended her three-year partnership with Open Mic Productions.
In a statement published by News24, Makhadzi was quoted saying:
“I signed a three-year contract with Open Mic in March 2020. I was waiting for them to maybe talk to me about how we’ll work together, but no one came to me. That’s why I decided to send a final email to say I was aware that the contract had ended.”
Open Mic Productions has not yet released a statement regarding whether the award-winning artist is still under contract with them.
Makhadzi and Open Mic Productions have been making headlines for negative reasons in recent months. In 2022, Sunday World reported that both parties were taken to court over an endorsement deal.
Kicks Kokovha, a sneaker brand, filed an R8.2 million lawsuit against Makhadzi and Open Mic Productions for allegedly not fulfilling their part in promoting the sneaker line.
Open Mic Productions denied the accusations during the legal proceedings.
In addition to this, Makhadzi’s recent bookings have been plagued with controversies, including incidents of snubbing events and displaying unruly behavior, as was the case in Zimbabwe.
Notwithstanding her fair share of controversies, Makhadzi has established herself as one of South Africa’s finest musicians.
Throughout her illustrious career spanning several years, she has received numerous accolades in recognition of her talent and hard work.
