Business moguls Sbu Mpisane and Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize have finalised their divorce and are no longer husband and wife.
The Durban High Court granted their divorce on Monday, marking the end of their decades-long marriage that began in 1991.
MaMkhize And Sbu Mpisane Divorce
The former power couple’s separation has been fraught with courtroom battles and allegations over their shared wealth. Married in community of property, Mpisane and Mkhize reportedly clashed over the division of their substantial assets, including properties and businesses that made them hundreds of millions of rands.
A source close to the pair revealed to ZiMoja that the divorce was delayed because MaMkhize allegedly fought to retain everything, a claim Mpisane strongly disputed.
“Mpisane challenged her, saying he contributed to the success of their businesses and deserved a share of the wealth,” the insider said.
During their separation, the couple continued to live under the same roof in their La Lucia mansion in Durban but reportedly stayed in different wings of the property.
What Went Wrong?
The collapse of their marriage was a focal point of MaMkhize’s reality show, Kwa Mam’Khize. She once explained that self-centeredness played a role in their relationship breakdown.
“I think the small problem that led my marriage to divorce was that Sbu loved himself. I also loved Sbu. So, no one cared for me,” she said.
How their amassed wealth will be divided remains unclear. Both parties have avoided revealing details of the settlement. Mpisane told ZiMoja to consult court documents for information.
“Shauwn is the author of the divorce. So you’re free to speak to her because I don’t want her to sue me for speaking about things I don’t know,” he said.
Attempts to reach MaMkhize for comment were unsuccessful as she ignored calls and messages. The former couple shares a son and had been married for 27 years before their separation.
