Meteorite Fall Sends Zimbabwean Village On Panic, Alien Invasion Fears Rock Villagers
‘Chipinge has done it again’ , many thought as they spotted an outer space object flying past Chipinge, a Zimbabwean Village, last Friday night.
The whole village was sent on panic mode as theories got exchanged over what the object really was.
But two striking theories still remain among villagers; it could be a case of witchcraft on broad daylight.
This, because Chipinge is infamous for witchcraft prejudices.
While others believe it was a case of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) from aliens.
An alien invasion maybe.
But from several statements made by villagers, the unidentified flying object is seemingly a meteorite fall.
Describing the incident to The Manica Post, one villager said; the object fell from the sky at high speed. It ignited flames and exploded on the way before hitting the ground with thudding sound.
The incident is said to have happened around 8.45pm on Friday and lasted no less than 45 seconds.
“I can confirm seeing a star headed eastwards. It was a frightening explosion-like sound. It also sounded like rain thunder despite the clear sky,” said Mr Felistus Magorwa of Tongogara Refugee Camp.
Meteorite falls are rare in Africa and only 158 of them have been recorded so far.
They are solid debris from asteroid, comets or meteoroid from outer space.
Officials from the country’s emergency unit CPU have not commented on the incident.
At the moment, it can only be ruled as an Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) incident.
UFOs are merely a description of what has not yet been officially identified or named. The word is usually mistaken for alien technological objects from living creatures in the outer space.
