Renowned actor and reality TV star Mohale Motaung addressed engagement rumours on social media on Sunday, 12 November. The speculation arose after the businessman shared images of himself adorned with a wedding ring and a proposal video.
Mohale Motaung on Engagement Rumours
In an exclusive interview with TshisaLIVE, the former Adulting actor clarified that he is not engaged and is currently not in a relationship. Mohale stated, “People just decided to create that. I took that from someone else. The ring is there because I put it there. There isn’t a love life at all.”
According to Mohale, his primary focus is building his brand and establishing businesses. “I’m launching my cosmetic range on 30 November and working on a reality show for YouTube. I will showcase everything I have been busy with, from work to family.”
Divorce and Past Relationships
Mohale was previously married to Somizi, who proposed at the Eiffel Tower in Paris in 2018. The couple had their traditional wedding in September 2019, followed by a lavish white wedding in January 2020, aired on Showmax.
Speculation about the couple heading for divorce surfaced in 2021 when Mohale made allegations of abuse against Somizi in an explosive leaked audio. According to Mohale, the abuse dated back to as early as three weeks into their relationship.
Despite the initial legal proceedings, Somizi withdrew his divorce summons against Mohale in March of this year and covered his legal fees. The withdrawal came after the 26-year-old denied entering a “valid customary [marriage] on 28 September 2019.”
Somizi’s legal representatives clarified that not all customs were complied with, shedding light on the existence of the marriage. Addressing the abuse claims, they stated, “We know about the abuse allegations, but our client has denied it all along and still denies it.’
