Mpumalanga Man Stabs Father To Death For Inheritance
Last week in Bukuzakhe, Volkrust, Mpumalanga, a shocking incident left the community in disbelief. Sizwe Nkosi, a 30-year-old man, was taken into custody for the murder of his 50-year-old father.
The tragic event unfolded when Sizwe demanded his inheritance from his father, just like in the story of the prodigal son.
However, his father refused, stating that he would only receive it after his father’s passing. In a fit of anger, Sizwe allegedly resorted to stabbing his father to death.
The Gripping Details Behind the Fatal Confrontation
According to an anonymous neighbour, Sizwe had been pressuring his father for some time to hand over his house and inheritance. Despite being unemployed, Sizwe insisted that his father’s tenants pay rent directly to him. The situation escalated on a Sunday, two weeks after the end of the month when Sizwe was in desperate need of money. Once again, he demanded that the tenants either pay him or vacate the premises. This ongoing conflict had already led to Sizwe being reprimanded by his family. However, due to his violent tendencies, the altercation tragically resulted in his father’s demise.
The neighbour recalls hearing a disturbance at the Nkosi household, which quickly escalated into cries for help. It became apparent that something terrible had occurred. Voices were raised, questioning Sizwe about why he had stabbed his father, while others expressed their anger through curses. Fearing Sizwe’s aggressive behaviour, the neighbour and others dialled the police instead of directly intervening.
Community in Shock: Mpumalanga Man Stabs Father For Inheritance
Colonel Donald Mdhluli, the spokesperson for the Mpumalanga police, confirmed the incident and stated that the motive behind the killing remained unknown. However, he mentioned the possibility that the father may have been targeted due to his assets. According to Colonel Mdhluli, Sizwe no longer lived with his father but had visited the house on the day of the incident. Despite having three siblings, Sizwe claimed to be the rightful heir of his father’s property. When he attempted to evict the tenants, his father intervened, resulting in the fatal stabbing.
Law enforcement and paramedics arrived at the scene, but sadly, the father was pronounced dead. A murder case was promptly opened, leading to Sizwe’s arrest and subsequent charges. He appeared in court and has been remanded in custody. A bail application hearing is scheduled for October 2, 2023. The community remains deeply shocked and saddened by this tragic event.
