Musa Khawula to Remain in Custody as Bail Hearing Is Postponed

Controversial gossip blogger Musa Khawula will remain in custody after his bail hearing was postponed.

Musa made his appearance in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

The court case has been postponed to January 29, allowing Khawula’s lawyer, Ofentse Nkgwang, more time to prepare for his bail application.

Khawula, known for his contentious social media presence is facing charges of crimen injuria and cyberbullying.

Previous Charges Loom Over Bail Application

According to NPA Gauteng spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane, Musa Khawula’s bail application could be jeopardized by two pending cases: one involving negligent driving and another concerning an alleged murder in 2022.

Musa Khawula is accused of killing his boyfriend during the incident.

A source speaking to TshisaLIVE revealed that Khawula has been visibly distressed and emotional since his arrival at Sun City Correctional Centre.

Media Application to Broadcast Proceedings Denied

During Tuesday’s court proceedings, Khawula’s legal team opposed the media’s request to broadcast the case. However, this was dismissed by the presiding magistrate.

A Pattern of Legal Trouble

Khawula’s latest arrest follows a series of legal entanglements. Two months ago, a warrant for his arrest was issued after he made defamatory claims against businessman Ze Nxumalo, accusing him of infidelity.

In July 2024, Musa Khawula was sentenced to 90 days in jail for contempt of court after defying a defamation order secured by Nozuko Mbalula, the wife of ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula. The court order barred Khawula from sharing corruption allegations about her on the social media platform X.
