Multi-award-winning producer and composer Frans Phetole Lebepe, better known as DrumPope, aims to set a new Guinness World Record.
He plans to release over 1,000 digital singles in one year, targeting 1,100 releases to surpass the current record.
Producer DrumPope To Set A New Guinness World Record With His Songs
DrumPope follows in the footsteps of other notable South African artists like Black Coffee, who set the record for the longest-ever DJ set at 60 hours nonstop in 2010, and DJs PH and Shimza, who achieved a world-first with a 72-hour DJ set.
DrumPope told Zimoja about his ambitious plan:
“This, for me, shows how resilient and dedicated we are as South African artists. I have not just been making anything, but have thus far made songs that I love and am sure other people will love too,”
To meet the Guinness World Record regulations, DrumPope’s releases must occur in a public space where the authority can monitor them. He has partnered with AMPD Studios in Newtown Junction Mall and MTN Callertunez as his official release platform.
“This is why I have teamed up with AMPD Studios in Newtown Junction Mall and with MTN Callertunez as my official release platform,” the producer added.
