Mzansi Rallies Behind Sizokuthola Presenter Xolani Khumalo as Alleged Drug Dealer Dies Mysteriously
South Africans are defending Xolani Khumalo, the presenter of the popular anti-drug show Sizokuthola, who is in trouble after a suspected drug dealer died following an interrogation by him and his crew.
Khumalo is popular for his show Sizokuthola, which exposes drug cartels and syndicates in South Africa.
How Presenter Xolani Khumalo And Sizokuthola Crew “Killed” A Drug Dealer
City Press reported that Khumalo and his crew, accompanied by a group of vigilantes known as Gauteng Patrollers or amapanyaza, raided a house in Katlehong, southeast of Johannesburg, on Wednesday. They allegedly acted on a tip-off and cornered Robert “Kicks” Varrie, who was suspected of selling drugs.
Varrie’s girlfriend, Eunice Raadt, who lived with him and their two children, told the publication that she witnessed the incident from outside the house. She said she saw armed men wearing masks holding down her boyfriend, who had his pants down and his underwear wet.
She claimed that the crew found two sachets of drugs but kept demanding more. They then placed a plastic bag around his head and pepper-sprayed it before suffocating him. They also asked him to move his right leg to signal that he wanted to confess.
Raadt said bystanders recorded the incident on their cellphones, but the “enforcers” confiscated them. She said that a few minutes later, a white double-cab bakkie reversed into their yard, and four well-built men loaded Varrie into the back of the bakkie and sped away.
She said she suspected he was dead then and that they had dressed him in her clothes after he had messed up his own. She said they did not know whose clothes to dress him in.
Raadt said that she and some friends started looking for him at local clinics, hospitals and police stations but could not find him. She said she only learnt of his death on Thursday morning when she received a call from a mortuary.
Police Confirm Unfortunate Incident
Gauteng police spokesperson Mavela Masondo confirmed to City Press that a case of murder was opened at Vosloorus police station and transferred to Katlehong North police station. He said no arrests had been made yet, but the investigation was advanced.
