Nomzamo Mbatha’s Sister Scammed by Own Family Members
Wendy Mbatha, the elder sister of Shaka Illembe actress Nomzamo Mbatha, recently shared how she was scammed by her family members.
Wendy, an entrepreneur managing various businesses, including Perfect Crown, NCC Skincare, and Wendy Online Clothing, opened up about the emotional impact of the betrayal in an interview with ZiMoja.

The Deceptive Blow to Wendy’s Skincare Business
Despite her successful ventures, Wendy faced a setback in her skincare business after being deceived by family members she had entrusted with responsibilities. Recalling the incident, she expressed the profound sense of betrayal she felt:
“It was the highest level of betrayal for me.”
The deception occurred earlier this year but continues to affect Wendy’s business and finances.She recounted how her family members not only stole but also replicated her business models. Wendy shared the emotional toll of the ordeal, stating,
“My skin products were stolen and replicated by people whom I trusted – family members that I had hired to run the business. A lot of money was lost,” she said before adding,”It was a grave loss for me and my business. I needed to sit with myself, close every door and speak to myself.”
The consequences were severe, as clients unknowingly purchased fake products, leading to skin damage. Wendy explained,
“Clients bought from them, thinking they are buying from me. People’s skins got damaged and burned. I had to nurse clients.”

Family Members Turned Rivals: Nomzamo Mbatha’s Sister Reveals How She Was Scammed
After the scam came to light, Wendy Mbatha had to fire her family members. However, this did not deter them, as they went on and launched their brand of skincare products, closely resembling Wendy’s original plan, including similar stickers and branding.
“After that mess, they started their own skincare products with almost the same plan, their stickers and branding was similar to mine. They tried to replicate what I had done. They used some suppliers and did their own nonsense,” she added.
The entire ordeal has left Wendy questioning whom she can trust. Despite her efforts to recover financially, she acknowledged the ongoing challenges:
“It’s really disheartening because you don’t know who to trust. We are always advised to work with family and grow the business, others say, never work with family or friends. I had to help the clients who had lost money and those whose skins had been damaged. Financially I haven’t recovered.”
The emotional toll has made it difficult for Wendy to confront her family members about the betrayal. As of now, she has not mustered the courage to address the matter with them.
