Nota Baloyi Speaks Out After Protection Order Granted Against Itumeleng Bokaba Amid Rape Accusation

The Rape Allegation

The accusation came after Bokaba revealed she only received 59 cents in royalties for the song Mayibabo. However, Bokaba claims that the rape accusation is unrelated to the royalties dispute.

Baloyi confirmed to Sunday World that Bokaba had opened a case against him with the police.

“I learned about this matter on Thursday when the police called me. I told the cops that I needed to engage my lawyer and get back to them to make my own statement,” Baloyi explained.

Bokaba Responds on Social Media

On her Instagram account, Bokaba addressed the situation, explaining that she had hoped to keep the matter private. However, blogger Musa Khawula made it public. Bokaba assured her followers that the rape claim was unrelated to the Mayibabo royalties issue, saying,

“I know everyone is concerned and panicked right now, but I want to assure you that I’m okay… This situation occurred before the ‘Mayibabo’ saga that made headlines last week, and it is not connected to that issue, other than unfortunate timing and overlap of people involved.”

Nota Baloyi’s Response and Protection Order

In response to the rape allegation, Baloyi has maintained his innocence. He also took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his side of the story and inform his followers about the extortion he claims to have faced. Following this, Baloyi successfully filed for a protection order against Bokaba.

After the order was granted, Baloyi expressed his relief and gratitude, saying,

“Finally, I was granted a protection order from extortion that took place over a number of weeks & when I refused to comply I was accused of a heinous act. I posted about it numerous times & warned my followers to expect the worst… I find the support heartwarming & I am grateful!”

Although the specific details of the protection order remain unclear, it restricts Bokaba from contacting Baloyi.
