In an unexpected turn of events, Phila Madlingozi, the son of veteran musician Ringo Madlingozi, has been fired from the popular isiXhosa telenovela Gqeberha The Empire.

Phila Madlingozi, who portrayed the role of Ntando, has been fired for his diva attitude and his lacklustre acting skills.

A source who spoke to ZiMoja said Phila’s contract has been terminated and his role as Ntando, Zimkhitha’s son played by Zandile Msutwana, was recast. After a thorough audition process, Oros Mampofu was chosen as Phila Madlingozi’s replacement.

“After he was fired. The company looked for other candidates that would best suit his role and Oros was the best out of everyone,” the source delved.

The same source also shed light on the reasons behind Phila Madlingozi’s dismissal from Gqeberha The Empire. The source alleges that the versatile musician was shown the exit door for being unprofessional.

It is claimed that the versatile musician was consistently tardy, would sometimes show up under the influence, and was accused of making unreasonable demands on set.

“He was always late for production. He would arrive drunk for work and sometimes hungover. He thought he had arrived and this was highly unprofessional. He is also diva on set and makes unreasonable demands,” the source explained.

Phila Madligozi Responds to Reports He Was Fired From Gqeberha The Empire

When approached for comment, Phila confirmed his departure from Gqeberha The Empire but chose not to divulge details about the circumstances. Instead, he shared that he is currently involved in another project slated for Showmax.

“I don’t want to entertain drama. I’m have moved on to other things. I’m shooting another show for Showmax. I can’t say what happened as I don’t want to entertain this. Things were supposed to happen the way it did. I am done shooting the show and I am working on other projects,” stated Phila in response to inquiries from ZiMoja.
