Two prison bosses are accused of harassing inmates’ wives during visits to correctional facilities, pressuring them for tlof tlof to so they don’t mistreat their jailed husbands.
Prison Bosses Pressuring Inmates’ Wives For Tlof Tlof
A probe by Sunday World uncovered that Joseph “Joe” Nkoli, the head of Groenpunt maximum correctional facility, allegedly impregnated a woman from Soweto and coerced her into an abortion to conceal the affair.
Nkoli is reported to have regularly visited another prisoner’s wife in Daveyton, engaging in tlof tlof at a guest house.
A mother of two, who spoke anonymously, disclosed that Nkoli, after offering her a lift, made sexual advances, exploiting her vulnerability to safeguard her husband in prison.
“One day, after asking for a location, he showed up in the middle of the night in his white BMW and started fondling and touching me. I didn’t resist his sexual advances because I knew what would happen to my husband back in prison.”
The Tlof Tlof Drama
The woman claimed Nkoli sent explicit messages and even provided financial assistance, later arranging a rendezvous in Vereeniging. The two met after the lady had visited her husband, and they had tlof tlof in a guest lodge.
She alleges that Nkoli shared confidential information, including her husband’s prison file. The woman gave in to Nkoli’s preying because he ill-treated her husband.
Similar accusations emerged from a prisoner, Koos Mlotshwa, at Zonderwater Medium B prison, who claimed a prison boss had relations with his wife, impacting his well-being in prison. He unsuccessfully filed complaints against the boss chowing his wife.
The accused prison boss faced prior legal issues, including a rape charge in 2011, where the case was reportedly withdrawn due to threats against the complainant. Despite convictions, he spent minimal time in correctional facilities, raising questions about the justice system.
Notorious Prison Boss Denies Bedding Inmates’ Wives
In response to the allegations, Nkoli vehemently denied the accusations, despite evidence of explicit messages and financial transactions. He initially claimed no knowledge of the complainant from Daveyton but later admitted to knowing her after a lengthy denial.
Correctional Services spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo stated the department would investigate the allegations.
