Sizzling Siba Mtongana Turns Up the Flavor with A-List Guest Anthony Anderson at Her Culinary Oasis
Celebrity chef and restaurateur Siba Mtongana had a special guest at her fine dining destination, SIBA – The Restaurant, on Thursday night.
US actor and comedian Anthony Anderson, best known for his roles in Black-ish, The Departed and Transformers, dined at the Table Bay Hotel venue and met the culinary entrepreneur.

Siba shared a photo of herself with Anderson on her Instagram account with the caption:
“For 100 marks, guess who dropped by at @siba_the_restaurant? I’m just a kid from Compton’ … ‘I’m just a kid from Mdantsane’.”
Anderson, who recently travelled to Cape Town to commemorate Juneteenth (US holiday celebrating the emancipation of African American slaves) in a “special way”, also posted a video of himself enjoying a meal at SIBA – The Restaurant on his Instagram stories.
Cooking Up A Storm
Siba, who hails from the Eastern Cape, has been making waves in the food industry with her award-winning TV shows, cookbooks and restaurant. Her career journey is so phenomenal that it is taught as a case study at Harvard University’s MBA programme.
She is also a judge on BBC Lifestyle’s South African Bake Off and the owner of The Siba Co, a food solutions and innovation holdings company.
SIBA – The Restaurant, which opened in December 2021 amid the Covid-19 pandemic, showcases authentic African flavours with a contemporary flair. Siba describes it as “a celebration of Africa’s finest”. The restaurant has already won two awards at the Luxe Restaurant Awards and is nominated for a prestigious World Culinary Award.
Mtongana is not only a successful businesswoman but also a mother of four. She recently published her first cookbook for young cooks, Let’s Cook, featuring her son Lonwabo. The book aims to inspire children to enjoy cooking and eating healthy food.
